For those of you who happen to be in Portland for this years’ annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America: We’ll be presenting an iLand application in the contributed oral session on linking community structure and ecosystem function. The title of the paper is “Drivers of spatial variation in old-growth forest carbon density disentangled with LiDAR and an individual-based landscape model”. In the paper we’ve used iLand to (i) estimate C stocks of old-growth forests at the HJ Andrews experimental forest, and (ii) conduct a hierarchical simulation experiment to disentangle environmental and community drivers of spatial C variation.
